COURSE OVERVIEW 

This qualification has been created to provide an introduction into teaching, to further develop the competencies and expertise of individuals not currently in teaching or training, currently working as an assessors or currently teaching and training, who wish to achieve the requisite skills and knowledge for preparation, planning , basic course design and evaluation skills, required to fulfil a teaching role. This qualification will also enable trainee teachers to gain confidence and practice in teaching and delivering session.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 and above. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. Centres are responsible for ensuring that this qualification is appropriate for the age and ability of learners.

 

The qualification has been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers that restrict access and progression. Entry to the qualification will be through centre interview and learners will be assessed on an individual basis.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This qualification has been created to further develop practical teaching skills, assessment and the use of resources in education and teaching. This qualification is suitable for:

 

  • Those who work, or want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector;

  • Learners who have just started a teaching/training role;

  • Teachers/trainers who are seeking career progression in their area of work;

  • Those working with learners on a one-to-one basis;

  • Learners who teach in industry;

  • Assessors who wish to achieve a teaching/training qualification.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 and above. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, Learners will need to be qualified, proficient or experienced in the subject which they intend to teach. Centres are responsible for ensuring that this qualification is appropriate for the age and ability of learners.

 

There is no requirement to have achieved the Qualifi Level 3 Award in Education and Training to be accepted on to this Level 4 qualification.

 

Applicants need to be qualified, proficient or experienced in the subject which they intend to teach. It would be expected that applicants have sufficient personal skills to complete the academic and other requirements of the programme. They will also need to be able to support their learners at the appropriate level whilst delivering their subject specialism. Applicants need to demonstrate the potential to study at minimum academic level 4 – the same level of study as the first year of a degree. All trainee teachers joining this qualification programme should undertake an initial assessment of skills in maths, English and ICT

 

There is a requirement to carry out an initial assessment of a trainee teacher’s personal skills in maths, English and ICT. Development needs should be recorded and, where applicable, an action plan agreed. If trainee teachers join the qualification programme having already undertaken an initial assessment of their maths, English and ICT skills, their record of development needs and any previous actions taken to address them should be reviewed and updated as required.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This qualification has been created for learners who wish to become fully qualified as further education teachers, with the possibility of gaining the professional status of Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).

 

This Level 5 Diploma offers an opportunity for career development as Colleges and other places of further education and many other sector employers generally require this level of qualification or at least a commitment to gain this upon employment.

 

Learners who successfully complete this qualification will take an analytical and practical approach to all aspects of planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. Whilst doing this, candidates will embed theories and principles in education and training and demonstrate them in their practice.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 and above. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Teaching. 

 

The qualification has been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers that restrict access and progression. Entry to the qualification will be through centre interview and learners will be assessed on an individual basis.

 

Applicants for the Diploma in Education and Teaching need to be qualified and or experienced in the subject which they intend to teach. Those intending to teach academic subjects would usually be expected to have a degree in their subject specialism. Those intending to teach in professional or vocational areas would usually be expected to have a professional or industry qualification and/or substantial experience of working in their respective sector.

 

There are no firm rules regarding prior qualifications in maths or English. It would be expected that applicants have sufficient personal skills to complete the academic and other requirements for the programme. Applicants will also need to be able to support their learners at the appropriate levels whilst delivering their subject specialism.

 

Applicants need to demonstrate the potential to study at minimum academic Level 5 – the same level of study as the second year of a degree course. There is also requirement for a minimum of 100 hours of teaching practice which must include working with groups and different practice requirements for each unit in this qualification

LEVEL 3 IN ASSESSING VOCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

COURSE OVERVIEW

This qualification has been created to develop further the competencies and expertise of professionals who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment).

This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 and above. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved a Level 2 qualification. Centres are responsible for ensuring that this qualification is appropriate for the age and ability of learners.

LEVEL 4 INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE OF ASSESSMENT PROCESSES AND PRACTICE

COURSE OVERVIEW

The rationale of the Certificate is to provide recognition for those who wish to develop their own abilities in the maintaining and improving the quality of assessment in a regulated environment. It is envisaged that all Qualifi centres will enable learners to further their knowledge of quality assurance to provide consistent, standardised assessment reports and appropriate feedback to learners.

 

The qualification will enable learners to become independent, self-directed learners with the tools and motivation necessary to continue learning, developing and reflecting on practice throughout their careers.

However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved a Level 3 qualification.
